Do you have space for private events??
Great food. Local staff that is friendly and attentive.
Outstanding burgers, best in the biz. And probably the most shocking hidden gem on the menu are the Crab Rangoon's. I'd make a meal of just those! That doesn't even say anything of the atmosphere or service, both of which are astounding.
MoreI dont give bad reviews but the ribeye was terrible. I ordered the 10 ounce with garlic butter cooked medium. It was very thin and grisly. My boyfriend had the fish and chips which were good, not great. I had searched for the best rated restaurants in Grand Haven and this one came up. With so many great choices in the area... I would not return here.
MoreReviews are correct, white chicken chili is awesome! And the pretzels are awesome too!
MoreGreat service and atmosphere. The French onion is certainly a favorite for most, but the steak I got was so so at best. It was prepared as asked but it's just not a very good cut of meat and the charbroiled taste overwhelms whatever seasoning, if any, that was applied. Thankfully they had A1 sauce.
MoreGreat drinks. Gf sandwiches and burgers
Server was extremely helpful when I had questions about my dairy allergy and finding something off the menu I could eat!
MoreFriendly service and good food. The perch may have been a little over done, but was still tasty. Friendly people in the bar, too. Would definitely return the next time I'm in town.
MoreLove this place! 20 years of friendly atmosphere, great staff (Debbie and Lauren rock!) and great food. Chris has done a great job of making this a destination for tourists and a hang out for locals. Happy Anniversary
MoreI love the food here, I got steak and have had hamburg's and both were excellent. Nice atmosphere and price is not bad. A definite visit if and when in the Grand Haven area.
MoreOutstanding fried lake perch basket, lukewarm pepper crab soup, decent Caesar, ok taps, very pleasant and efficient service
MoreExcellent food. I had the wet burrito and my husband the fried perch. Yum! Service was excellent and the atmosphere very nice.
MoreOn the border between comfy and classy. My burger was a little more than I wanted to pay, but all the ingredients were perfect, fresh, and aesthetically pleasing. I guess that made up for the extra couple dollars.Their white-chicken chili is excellent. ALWAYS get the cheese on top.The staff was professional and courteous.Overall a good experience.
MoreThis IS where the locals eat! Was in the mood for fish and had the lake perch. Yummy! Waitress was on it and was friendly and attentive. Fresh tasty meal for our last day in Michigan. I will remember this place the next time we are in the area!
MoreChris is amazing, there always so friendly and the food is amazing
My fiancé and I’s favorite spot. Awesome food and friendly staff. We always have a good time with our friends and family here. It’s a must!
MoreFood and service was good.
I am always on the look out for a Cuban sandwich, that’s why we stopped in. There sandwich did not disappoint. It was amazing! I would recommend picking their coleslaw for the side, and I threw it in top of the sandwich which made it even better. My wife had their chicken bacon wrap and she loved it. That is aging a lot coming from a picky eater.
MoreThe atmosphere here is very welcoming and very well lit. Not the largest of restaurants, but not small either.I ordered the Crab Rangoons and the Nachos. To be frank both were disappointing. The Crab Rangoons had too much breading / pouch was too thick. Didn't love the honey soy sauce either. Much better at Asian Restaurants with Sweet and Sour sauce. However on Thursday they are $4.75. So that's good at least. I had heard such good things about JW's Nacho's, maybe my hopes were too high. The cheese was good, the beef was good, the chips were disappointing and became soggy way too quickly. Plus didn't like taste or texture of chip. Nothing was really bad it was all just ehh.The service was excellent, so there's that!Overall I give 3 1/2 stars. I can't round up, so sadly it gets a 3. Would I return? Maybe, to try their burgers!
MoreGreat food, but servers not wearing masks/being loose w sanitary guidelines. proceed at your own risk.
MoreGreat menu selections and food. Favorites are the chopped salad, perch and award winning white chicken chili! They are busy during the dinner hour, recommend reservations if accepting them.
MoreGood food. Great service. The vibe was lovely in there. My only regret is that I was on my lunch break and couldn't try one of the margaritas...Maybe next time...
MoreGreat food. Love the atmosphere and always friendly staff.
Good food and service relaxing atmosphere
First time visiting JW's. Food was amazing, staff was amazing and atmosphere was perfect. Will be back for sure
MoreThe food was awesome and our service was spectacular. Thank you Lauren for your phenomenal service!!
MoreGreat burgers, friendly staff, great desserts! They've set up a nice outdoor dining area on the sidewalk and street that's new since I visited last.
MoreGreat food and wonderful service! The sandwiches were made perfectly and tasted delicious. Lots of various types of food on the menu. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing.
MoreDelicious perch! The white bean chili is a must-have.
I love the atmosphere and the food. It never disappoints!!! Get the wet burrito 😀
MoreGood food and good staff
Very inviting place. Very comfortable. Very friendly staff. Amazing food.
Food's great and such a homey atmosphere. Good for meeting up with friends or going on a date.
MoreJW is a frequent choice for family dinners - they have a great menu, excellent cocktails, beer, and wonderful desserts. JW has a fun atmosphere. I was there for dinner yesterday with a party of 7 and our food was served in a reasonable amount of time. I had a Sidecar cocktail which was delicious - sort of a alcoholic lemonade. I also had the chimichurri steak which was deeply flavorful and served with lightly seasoned broccoli (I added butter) and a Cesear salad. For dessert my neice and I had a chocolate torte with raspberry sauce. It was incredibly rich and creamy. Other people in the party had a French dip sandwich (it was huge), surf and turf, and burgers. I heard no complaints. JW is great for a fancier meal after a day of beach fun and/or shopping in Grand Haven.
MoreI really wish I could give it more stars as this used to be a place my family and I enjoyed going to. In the last year and a half, we've had nothing but bad service - actually no service, and underwhelming food. We had been there a while back and we were seated within 5 minutes. Almost 20 minutes at the table and all we had was water. The restaurant was probably just 3/4 full, and had been passed numerous times. We finally got up to leave and told the hostess no one had come to the table. The only response from the young lady was "oh". My husband and I recently went to the restaurant for lunch on a weekday, just to give it another chance. The food was not great. Oily, salty, and just downright sad. I really wanted that lunch to be great, but it just was not. Bummer, because I was rooting for JDubs. If we go back, it won't be a while. Hopefully it will be a better experience.
MoreLove there food! Nice people!
I really wish I could respond to Debbie Heins. Living in GH I frequent Jw’s often. The staff and food are always amazing. Most the workers have been off since March and are all coming back to a whole new dynamic, new outdoor seating, different menu, and to top everything off its 90 degrees and they now have to wear masks. Running around getting food and drinks is no easy task add to the heat and masks it’s even worse. Maybe Debbie should stay home until the restaurants can be opened with out restrictions if she’s so terrified of someone accidentally pulling it down or what ever the situation was. Watch out Karen here comes Debbie. I’llSupport jw’s and their workers!!!!
MoreGood and friendly service. Food was very good.
My wet burrito was very good, my wife's blacken salmon was absolutely incredible. Our waitress Lauren was very attentive to our table, food was hot when delivered and drinks were refilled when we needed them....lol often. The other couple that are with us had the same similar reactions as we did. I highly recommend eating here you can't go wrong with what ever you order. This was on a Saturday night and they were a little busy , they did a great job 😎
MoreRecently moved to DT GH and eat out 2-3 times a week. Have tried all the local places and I must say yours is one of our favorites. I would rate the service as a consistent outstanding , no one try’s harder then please their guest in my opinion . The wet burrito and burger are outstanding and your atmosphere whether in the bar or the restaurant is warm and friendly. We’ll be back !
MoreNot bad at all. Good little place to just relax and have some beers after work. Pub food such as nachos, burgers, etc. Can all be found here.
MoreJW's is a must stop for me when I'm in Grand Haven. There White Chilli is delish and makes you want to order another bowl. Tonight's fare was different for us, she usually orders the perch and I the small steak, tonight she had steak and I had perch. She devoured the steak as if it might be the last steak on earth. The perch where of good size, lightly battered and deep fried not greasy at all, just a few drops of lemon juice and I was devouring my dinner. We skipped dessert. The bar was lively, friendly and much fun. Celebrating the holidays is always fun and doing it at JW's makes it that much better.
MoreI got a "Rajun Cajun" burger that was good but didn't seem any different than a regular burger. My wife got the bacon and smoked cheddar burger and wasn't really impressed with it. She said that the bacon was too crispy and the cheese wasn't melted. Overall, I'd have to say that JW's is the average bar and grill.
MoreFood was over priced, taste was average at best. Younger, short, blonde who looked like she was working on to go orders was so rude and unprofessional. Totally put out that we arrived. My husband and I just looked at each other like, what is her deal? We heard someone call her, Tabbi, Gabbi, something like that. As a business owner, this is not someone I would EVER have meeting my guests. The wait staff was wonderful. They appeared to be working so hard and following the state's rules. We felt completely at ease with our waitress, Lauren. She went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome after our horrible reception. Lauren was sweet and is someone our business would welcome in a heart beat. She knew her job. Nothing went unnoticed. 100% professional. If we return, it's only because of the service we received from Lauren.
MoreFirst time and not our last. My husband had the wet burrito, and I, the perch basket—delicious! Enjoyed the outdoor seating option they have. The service (Lauren) was fast and friendly. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Grand Haven!
MoreAwesome food, great service! Courtney was our server and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back!
MoreWe always forget about this place but the few times we’ve gone we’ve had good food and service, the pricing is reasonable as well. Recently we had great onions rings, a great chimi burger and very good crab rangoons, the french dip was average. Our today waitress was super friendly and attentive! The bar had a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere as well.
MoreVery down to earth sort of sitdown place in Grand Haven, with some regional specialty plates. I enjoyed the perch sandwich, and the pretzel sticks. No complaints. Probably not the place to go for healthy food, but JW's knows its culinary strengths and plays to them well.
